Marshall King's Doing it again! 13.1 miles for a cure!
On November 2nd, 1999, my wife Angela was diagnosed with Leukemia. Today she has been in remission for more than three years.
On April 18th, 2004, to honor Angela and the many others who have been stricken with this terrible disease, I will racewalk 13.1 miles in the Runaway Train Half Marathon in Dallas, Texas. With YOUR help and donations, I will raise $1,500 for Leukemia and Blood Cancer Research, Education and Patient Support. I will be participating in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training program, which has raised more than $340 million to fight blood cancers. As many of you know, I successfully completed the Virginia Beach Half Marathon and was able to raise more than $3,600. I want to continue to support the Leukemia Society and their important efforts to cure and eliminate blood cancers, and I can do it with your help. Did you know that Leukemia is the number 1 killer of children? Did you know that every five minutes, someone in the United States learns that he or she has leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin's disease or myeloma? From 1960 to 1995, Leukemia survival rates increased dramatically, from 14% to 44%. But 44% is not high enough! Please help me achieve my goal. Together, we can find a cure and save lives.
